Fall Supper 2024 will be held in the Major Hall on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 5 to 6:30pm. We will be posting for donations in September.
We have so much to be thankful for, don’t we? We leave our tables after a big dinner as stuffed as the turkey we ate! 😋🍰🍗🍻 😋 It may remind us that there are those who struggle to provide any food for their families.
Once again, we are unable to have our annual Fall Supper. The last number of years, the proceeds from the Major Fall Supper is donated to Hands at Work, for families in Zimbabwe for the 3 essential services of food, health and education. Thank you so much for your support!
Just to refresh your memory: The reason the money goes to Zimbabwe is because we (Mavis, Erin, Cindy, Lannette, Raquel, Fr Matthew and Marlene) spent three weeks in Zimbabwe in 2016 visiting the poorest of the poor in their communities and helping to feed the children at the care points and getting to know them. We are still in contact with them. The pandemic has been hard on all, especially the children, care workers and caregivers. Work is scarce. Most struggle to feed their families and pay school fees.
Many families in Zim remember the “Team from Major” and know that there are many people in Major and Kerrobert sending help and praying for them. They pray for us too.
So, we are asking for donations. No amount is too small. $25 will feed one child for one month. They will be forever grateful. Hands at Work is a well-run charity. Check it out at handsatwork.org or ask one of us if you have questions.
Tax receipts can be issued for amounts over $20.
Donations may be left at the Credit Union in Major, Wenzel Motors or sent to Marlene at Box 74, Major, SK S0L2H0 or handed to Marlene, Mavis or Cindy in Major or Lannette in Kerrobert. Please make cheques out to Hands at Work in Africa (Canada). Thank you!

Care Worker Juliet found 5-year-old Dorcus wandering the streets trying to steal food. She immediately invited her to the Care Point.

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord
and he will reward them for what they have done.” Proverbs 19:17

The Care Workers come to the Care Point in their community daily
where they cook a hot nutritious meal for the children.
They also visit each family and check on health and education.
